Platform: Nintendo Switch

I have no idea how Nintendo did this. It takes mechanics and gamedesign inspiration from all over the industry, and improves on basically all of them. Constantly impressive and gratifying - one of the best games ever made.

On the surface cute and fun, but ultimately a warm, sad story of anxiety and alienation. Slow at times, but witty and great to look at. Wonderful atmosphere, music and writing.

A spiritual successor to LIMBO, taking everything they’re good at and doing it better. Puzzles, art direction, sound design, environmental storytelling. INSIDE is dark, unexpected and brilliant.

At launch, fresh and exciting. A level of polish and characterisation not really seen in PVP-focused shooters before. Devolved a bit over time, seemingly driven by meta enforcement, unsure whether to target the pro or casual scene.

Stupidly hilarious playdough physics based fun with friends.

Interesting, philosophically centred puzzle game with a relatively unique setting and some beautiful vistas. Puzzles can get very challenging - pleasantly so.

Probably better suited to a mobile game these days, but extremely pleasant and a fun way to work your way through calmness to eventual OCD-like anxiety.
