Platform: PlayStation 5
Significantly more polished and refined than its predecessor, but no less charming and creepy. Has frustrating moments, but overall a fantastic, memorable experience. Play the original first.
Had been waiting for this for years and it didn’t disappoint. Wildly impressive, funny, clever and very satisfying. Music and sound design are great. Can be challenging but never outstays its welcome.
Really cute & wholesome little adventure game. Artstyle is great, writing is solid, gameplay loop is addictive and fun. Alba is a really great, relaxing excursion which can be finished in one sitting.
A really solid, fun foundation, but clearly a year or two away from completion. Core systems are either underutilised or entirely absent. Undeniably gorgeous if you can run it.
A loving and faithful return to Boletaria, now rendered in spectacular modern tech. It’s clear to see FROM’s approach was unrefined back then, but it’s still a fantastic, brutal, important game.
What I assumed would just be a quick tech demo of the PS5 and its new controller tech turned out to be a really creative, passionate and fun jaunt through PlayStation’s history. Really cool.
If you can stick around long enough to see through the shameless BOTW clone, Genshin has its own somewhat charming personality, and pretty fun combat. Its F2P gacha model becomes restrictive unless you’re up for an insane grind or… becoming a whale.
If you thought this IP was a strange fit for a Destiny-like, you’d be right. It’s OK when it works, but is mostly clumsy, confused, forced and buggy. Combat is OK, movement is clunky. Should be f2p.
It’s wickedly fun, no doubt about it. Frenetic, insane combat like the one that came before it. But I can’t help but feel it’s a little too self-aware now, and may have edged into genuine cheese.
A short, clever, beautiful and heartfelt puzzler about friendship and overcoming problems together. Not the most challenging puzzle game, but a wonderful little experience.
