Platform: Oculus Rift

A frightfully creative and talented use of VR, which wouldn’t be half as good on traditional platforms. This is a really, really impressive experience and arguably a VR must play.

Relies a lot on its IP, and benefits a lot from the inherent fun of VR (if you have it), but didn’t do much for me otherwise. Satisfies childlike dreams of flying an X-Wing, and the story is passable.

Dan Carlin made a videogame thing! I love his work so much and this was great too. Sadly a little short and lacking in interaction, but a cool experience nonetheless. I want more!

Valve (finally) throw down the gauntlet. Alyx changes the VR landscape and is truly a masterpiece; sound, level, visual, game design and story are all top notch. Will not be surpassed for some time.

Slick, responsive and addictive - an absolute must-have for VR. Check out BeastSaber for mods, namely custom songs.

VR essential. Incredibly addictive. I love everything about this: the mechanic, the sound, the art style - fucking cool.

Early access survival game, but it’s… actually really good? Smooth movement, gorgeous visuals and lots of depth (no pun intended). Can be a bit overwhelming at first, but stick with it.

Simple but ingenious concept which will either highlight the strength in you & your partners communication, or potentially start an argument. Either way, hilarious couch/party game.

This would have been a thumbs down upon release. Hello Games have since weathered the storm and managed to turn this into a good game. It worries me what other studios will learn from this however.

A fitting and challenging musically violent rhythm game with gorgeous visual styling from one half of band Lightning Bolt & friends.
