Bungie’s long-awaited Marathon reveal has taken place, giving us the first real look at gameplay. It’s a crucial moment for both Bungie and Sony’s live-service plans, with Destiny 2 scaling back, all eyes are on Marathon to deliver. There was the gameplay trailer, a gameplay overview, some gameplay and vox pops from creators invited to play and finally a (pretty incredible) cinematic. The art direction is 10/10, and I’m optimistic about the prospect of an extraction shooter that matches my sweet-spot of complexity, but we’ll see!
