The voice of Mario, Charles Martinet has announced he is stepping down from the role after 27 years. Martinet will continue working with Nintendo as the company’s “Mario Ambassador.”

Nintendo has confirmed Martinet did no voice work for October’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder. When asked about who will portray Mario going forward, a representative said that the game’s voice actors “will be credited in the game credits, so please wait for [that] to be released.”
