Genre: Puzzle

Short, slow and memorable; Gone Home is somewhat overhyped, but important and well designed regardless. Best to go in absolutely blind.

Very creative and fun, Episode is varied and a great example of Valve being in the zone. A great albeit tantalising “conclusion” evidently leaving the world wanting more. Google and read “Epistle 3”!

The one that changed the game. The impact of Half-Life is immeasurable, but I’ll always look back and be thankful for that intro train sequence, knowing that all the new games I like learned from it.

An interesting & dynamic adventure. Short and cryptic, it leans more into interactive horror storytelling than depth of gameplay; it’s an interesting premise, but a bit anticlimactic and forgettable.

A tense 2D puzzle platformer with a gorgeous art style. LIMBO was one of the more inspirational indie games that changed the game at the time, and deserves a playthrough.

Probably better suited to mobile, but still fun and has the trademark Tomorrow Corp worldbuilding and tone. Addictive, fun, and now a classic. Burn it all.

Really stupid. Really funny. Probably more appropriate as just a mobile game these days though.

Intriguing procedurally generated space puzzle game. Can be confusing and annoying at first & the actual puzzles can be underwhelming, but there’s something really interesting about the presentation.

Puzzle platformer with great atmosphere, design, music and interesting world. Original and creative usage of light and one of the hardest to remember how to spell titles.
