I fooled myself into thinking that one gets a certain amount of enjoyment ‘for free’ by virtue of being in the Star Wars universe. This has previously been true and carried me through multiple otherwise-not-amazing games. Star Wars Outlaws has proven me wrong: an uninspired, bare-minimum “open-world” experience (if you can even call it that, given how restrictive it can be)… stealth, combat, and exploration that are painfully shallow, with comically bad AI and repetitive mechanics. It has its moments of charm and “huh cool :)”, but overall a disappointment that does not live up to its potential.

[Early access] The Rogue Prince of Persia revitalises the classic with a fresh roguelike twist, brought to you by Evil Empire of Dead Cells fame. Procedurally generated levels keep runs exciting, and the fluid parkour and combat stay true to the franchise’s roots while making use of modern sensibilities. Gorgeous visuals and challenging gameplay make it a promising early access title, but we’ll see how the roadmap progresses…

A lot of the magic of the first one is gone and unfortunately it’s just kind of… uninspiring. For everything it does well, there are two things it doesn’t. Worth a look on sale.

You know what it is. Not as good as Odyssey, and that wasn’t particularly good either. They have to look at refocusing and reinventing the franchise at some point… right?

Expectedly more of the same, but surprisingly, I actually don’t mind it. Can see why people call it DLC, but the balance it strikes of realistic and stylised environments is nice. Writing is very avg.

Improves upon almost everything of its predecessor. All the tropes are here, but they still feel interesting at this point. Bursting with ambition and mostly delivers.

Fun game. Gorgeous setting and a pretty good story. Has some pacing issues, but one of if not the best AC games. Just wish it was a little harder.

The generic, yearly AC reskin cashcow cycle begins. Entirely underwhelming.

This feels like eating McDonalds. It’s tasty and fills you up in the moment, but you hate yourself and are left unsatisfied thereafter. Has some interesting new ideas, but mostly the same old stuff.

A welcome change of design direction for the franchise! Less about assassination & stealth, more about RPG-stuff. That said, it’s still full of bugs, clunky writing/VA and atrocious optimisation.
