Possessor(s) left me conflicted. Its art direction, soundtrack, and emotionally resonant story are all excellent, but the metroidvania fundamentals don’t always support them. Unclear maps, awkward traversal, and not-particularly-satisfying combat sequences weigh down an experience that otherwise shows a lot of care and ambition. Feels like had it had a bit more time, this could have been something great. Worth a look for fans of the genre (or studio) though!
[Early access] Great potential, but core mechanics are currently working against the experience. Parrying mostly not worth it, healing tedious, and weapon durability killing loot excitement. Needs better onboarding, difficulty scaling, and meaningful rewards. Most of all though, I don’t feel particularly connected to the original Hyper Light, whose setting and vibe were top-notch. Hoping for improvements - will keep an eye on it through EA.
Cool game, but peaks early and feels like an explosion of ideas never quite came together. Great to look at and feels quite nice, but ultimately not particularly satisfying or compelling. Brief fun.
Hauntingly beautiful, tight controls and an atmospheric world. Hyper Light Drifter is a great example of how to do top-down adventure standing on the shoulders of giants like Zelda and Dark Souls.
